We specialize in building websites, creating interactive content for the web, and producing short videos with an emphasis in documentary filmmaking.
Company
FireStream Media is a full-service, client-focused studio located in downtown Durham. We specialize in web and interactive media development, as well as video production, paying attention to detail without missing the big picture.
FireStream Media is a sole-
proprietorship, but we often collaborate with others. We can put together a team of experienced graphic designers, database and web developers, animators, writers, videographers and film editors whenever a project calls for it.
Founder
Carol Thomson launched FireStream Media in 2006 to further her passion for multimedia work. Carol has over 20 years of programming and multimedia experience. Her previous employers include Isotechnologies, Duke University Medical Center, BroadBand Technologies, Topsail Technologies, and Brisbane City Council.
Along with working at FireStream Media, Carol teaches documentary video production at the Duke Center for Documentary Studies and the Community Folklife Documentation Institute for the N.C. Arts Council.
Community Involvement
FireStream loves Durham and believes in giving back to the community. FireStream’s pro bono work includes the development of the Home Energy Share and Compare web application for Clean Energy Durham. Recently, FireStream was invited to join the marketing team involved in promoting the Museum of Durham History. Carol is assisting with the development of the website and e-newsletter. FireStream is also a Partner in Progress with Downtown Durham Inc.
Carol serves on the board at Urban Ministries Durham where she chairs the Technology Committee. She led the effort to redesign Urban Ministries’ new website.
